November 1, 1948: The Fire and Marine Insurance Rating Association of Japan [ the former name of the Property and Casualty Insurance Rating Organization ( PCIRO ) ] was established as an independent insurance rating organization. |

January 8, 1964: The Automobile Insurance Rating Organization of Japan ( AIRO ) split off from the Association to become an independent organization. |

July 1, 2002: The merger of AIRO and PCIRO resulted in the formation of NLIRO. |
